Get to know me ... in Greece📍

I wanted my first ever post to be about something that is very special to me, that being this wonderful trip. My first trip outside the United States was more than perfect. Upon the initial decision that was “i want to go to greece” my favorite movie was a (and still is) mamma mia. It has been such an impactful movie on my life as it ignited my love for musicals, my love for ABBA, and my love for the 70s. Although this is a travel post, this will be much much more than a travel blog. Music is my favorite aspect of life and i want to convey that through this endeavor.

While on this trip i was able to spend time on the islands of Mykonos and Santorini, as well as the great city of Athens. The architecture of athens as well as the beautiful parthenon and acropolis was mind blowing, however the islands have my heart. I loved the beaches and the kind people that we encountered on the islands of Santorini and Mykonos, as well as the beautiful land and wild nightlife. All of the people that we encountered were so kind and inviting. I have to say that i am now partial to Mykonos and the island of Delos. To anyone who was not a Percy Jackson lover or even interested in greek mythology as a child, Delos is known to be the birthplace of apollo, or the sun god. While in Athens we were also able to visit the acropolis museum where we were able to see statues of gods like athena as well as hear the stories that are passed down for generations to the Greek population.

The food here was a whole other aspect that I couldn’t believe I had lived without. The most delicious greek yogurt with fruit and honey for breakfast each morning along with a wide variety of fruit juices i had never thought id drink. Gyros of all shapes and sizes for lunch every day, and although i ate them each day, I thought I would never tire of them. Dinner each night was a wildcard as we never knew what we would find. I could always find pasta and it was heavenly each time. With fresh tomatoes on EVERYTHING and the most delicious cheeses i've ever experienced. The dining alone was worth the VERY long trip.

Then there were our modes of transportation. The trip began with a flight from Nashville, TN to Pittsburgh, PA and then from Pitts to Athens, Greece. after spending two days in Athens we took another flight to Mykonos island where we spent three days and nights. From there we were a short ferry ride to Delos where we spent a day; and we took a large ferry from Mykonos to Santorini. after finishing our time in Santorini, it was a flight back to Athens for the night and the next morning we flew from Athens all the way to Chicago. being stuck in the Chicago airport is no small feat, but being there from 3:00 in the afternoon to 10:45 at night is one of the more draining experiences of my eighteen years on this sweet earth. From Chicago we had an easy flight back to Nashville and were swiftly home after such an eventful day.

This trip was so monumental to me as I love seeing the ways of life of people that are different than mine. Getting to experience these people and their culture was so beautiful and i will be making another trip if ever given the chance!

much love & ill see u soon 🫶🏼
